Support of Friends & Family Pays Off

Kyle Gehring from West Palm Beach, FL took home the Best New Filmmaker Award for his short film; Aversion Conspiracy.

The film was originally written as a feature-length film, but because of time and lack of funding he turned it into a short film. It took two years, the support of friends, family and since his grandfather was a contractor it aided in finding locations at no cost.

This was the first film Gehrig made outside of school films. His advice to filmmakers is, “Don’t let anything hold you back if this is what you want to do.” He says he would consider filming in Sarasota and compares the area to a smaller Key West, FL
