Behind the Music
Post Concert Interview
International Recording Artist Jon Secada
“If you’re really in touch with your social websites and what it is and how you want to work your career, you can do a lot as an independent and work with different people.”
Valentine’s Day February 14, 2013 will be an unforgettable day for many who attended ‘Return to Romance,’ an elegant affair and concert by three-time Grammy Award winner Jon Secada. Although it didn’t take place under the stars as originally planned, a little rain wasn’t going to keep Organizer/CEO of Chillloungenight.com; Rainer Scheer from moving forward to plan B; Flight Source International Jet Port.
What can make this fairy tale evening even better? Being whisked away on one of the jets with the man who melts hearts with his voice and his words. Yes, a dream, however I did get my time alone after the concert to talk with Jon Secada, but before leaving I left a heart of gold with him (thank you Rainer).
What do you think about Sarasota?
I love Sarasota. I was here last year in 2012 at the Van Wezel.
I did a show with Sergio Mendes.
Do you favor singing or songwriting better?
I started off as a song writer, I always consider myself a singer/songwriter. I studied music, got my bachelors and masters in music. I just liked to work in every aspect of music, production, arranging, songwriting. I was a teacher, so I got it all, then I got lucky in my career.
What are you working on now?
I’m in the process of recording another CD with Music Producer; Rudy Perez. I am busy between dates in Chile and Argentina and in the studio, at the same time I’m promoting my new song in the states.
How do you feel about the shift in music distribution/labels?
I believe in independence, it’s changed the lives of all artists and its okay to be independent. I have my production company; I’m an independent as well. I think the internet helps. If you’re really in touch with your social websites and what it is and how you want to work your career, you can do a lot as an independent and work with different people. I’ll outsource anything I did with them in production.
What do you want people to know about you?
I’m a hard worker always have been and always will be. If I can keep doing what I am doing and be the best parent I can be, I’ll be very happy.
What will it take to get you to come back?
An invitation and I’m there.
Mr. Secada we are looking forward to your return to Sarasota! Thank you for spending your Valentine’s Day with all of us.
