Ladies Relax After 5 is an event Creative Minds Exposed hosted on Thursday, May 2nd at the HuB in Sarasota where I have an office. Approximately 75 women showed up to the event held from 6-9pm, a pre-cursor to ladies night where women usually go out around 9pm and meet up for cocktails and dancing.

The complementary event hosted by CME attained  liquor sponsor Tito’s Handmade Gluten Free Vodka thanks to Duane Wildridge of Tito’s. I met Duane at local event he was sponsoring during the SFF,  I asked him why  Tito’s sponsors local events and what makes Tito’s different from the various vodka’s on the market;  Duane: We love to support the local communities by participating in events. We are made 100% from corn, making us Gluten free. We are six times distilled using old style copper pot distillation, creating a smoother round taste. We are made in America (Austin, Texas) by Tito Beverage. It’s a pretty simple process, pretty simple vodka made for folk who want to have a good time. We are the hottest vodka out there now. Wendie Wilkie with My Foodie Food made a specialty drink  with Tito’s vodka called The Pink Stiletto with her soon to be famous Cocktail SWAG that rims the glass.  It was a hit!

I have thrown several events in the past to help educate and introduce people in the entertainment business and thought why not do the same for the women in the area. There is a bit of a disconnect and I feel women need to be empowered instead of gossiping and judging each other, this is what I spoke about. By not holding the event in a bar or restaurant and the strict no men rule, allows the women to come as they are and to relax without having to feel eyes gazing upon them or uncomfortable in any way. With myself as the host, I also asked women I admire to take the microphone and speak about what makes them passionate. Speakers included Susan Short of Family Beautiful Magazine who spoke about travel with excessive danger,  Assunta Swier of Three Kitcheneers & the HuB; a very humble yet strong business woman, mother and wife gave some insight into staying healthy, but mostly spent her time lifting everyone else up  and Tracey Parnell Author of The 40 Year Old Snowbird enlightened us on how everyone has a story and how to self publish your book. She is currently coaching me on publishing my two books.

Throughout the evening women had a chance to visit with the several women ran businesses who set-up shop offering demonstrations or information including; Ultimate Vitality For Life, Origami Owl, Miche Bags, Premiere Jewelry Designs, Urban Eco Beauty, Zollinger Meditation, N8 Talent, Pin Up Girls Next Door, Curico & Co., Studio South Fitness, Arbonne International, Catalyst Activator Guide, Makeup Artist Carissa Garrison-Penta, Victoria Blooms and Jockey Person to Person put on a thirty minute fashion show with local models. Raffles and door prizes were given away throughout the night.

Light bites were donated by local restaurants with the theme aphrodisiac in mind to make it fun for the ladies. Restaurants participating included Darwins who provided shrimp ceviche, Cafe Americano/Sangria sent us oyster shooters, MADE gave us an amazing banana pudding crème brûlée which was to die for, Cafe Amici tantalized us with tiramisu, My Foodie Food made rosemary biscuits with brie, Chef Craig Chasky added some heat with his Organic Belgium Chocolate Bark, Primo Ristorante  knocked us out with their themed for the ladies dessert tray filled with cannolis, chocolate covered bavarian creame balls and cake, and Clasico Cafe & Bar made a delicious Dragon Berry Cocktail infused with several ingredients; too many to list, but including vodka steeped in Jasmine tea, raspberry and blueberry purée – it went fast! The ladies all enjoyed the theme as much as the chef’s. I have a soft spot for restaurants that participate in events such as this, I always encourage the community to support the restaurants that support the locals in return.
