Savor Authentic Summer Italian Food at a Price You Can’t Pass Up!

Boneless Pork Chop a favorite at Andrea’s.

Tucked away on Siesta Key Drive is an authentic Italian Restaurant called Andrea’s. It’s quaint and unassuming, exactly what Chef Andrea wants  for his atmosphere, because the focus is his gourmet food. The restaurants slogan The Art of Food and Wine and yes, they do deliver just that!

Assunta Swier Founder of Three Kitcheneers our host for the evening, invited a group of Influential Sarasota residents to taste Andrea’s Summer Menu. It’s a pre-fix menu served June – October (Sun-Thurs). The three course meal is $25 and includes an appetizer, main course and dessert.

Sharing a table with me are my friends from Shift Design Haus Michael Muscarella and Ryan McDonald. With so many choices on the menu, we decided it would be best if we all ordered something different so we could try as many items as possible.

That was the plan, but Michael and Ryan both could not pass up the Beef Carpaccio with Julienne Root Vegetables & Shaved Parmigiano with Dijon Sauce, I on the other hand ordered the Peach & Gorgonzola “Brulee” over Organic Spinach and Pecan Salad. It’s a good thing they each ordered their own dish because it was gone faster than you can imagine -enough said! My appetizer was incredible, a peach halved and stuffed with Gorgonzola “Brulee” wow, what a combination, one I’ve never experienced before – it’s cries out Summer!

In between courses Andrea’s walks around answering any questions we have, he is delightful and an amazing Chef. For dinner I ordered the House Made Whole Wheat Tagliolini with Broccolini Pesto and Shave Pecorino – oh my…, I don’t recall ever having Tagliolini before, the texture and freshness of the pasta brings an expression to mind, “Now that’s Italian.” My only suggestion would be to add some sun dried tomatoes in for more flavor, but I’m not Italian, so what do I know! Michael had the Mini Veal Milanese – Parmigiana, Capers & Lemons, Arugula & Tomatoes – three pieces sitting happy next to each other on the plate for tasting. The best dish of the night is Ryan’s – Boneless Pork Chop with Wild Mushroom Sauce and Roasted Red Potatoes, the presentation alone will have you mouth excited. Luckily Ryan kept his promise allowing us to try his dish… I will go back to Andrea’s just for this alone. It was the most tender pork chop, thick and juicy, cooked to perfection. We all agree,it’s our favorite dish!

You can not beat the price of $25.00 for a three course meal that Andrea’s is serving up, honestly you just can’t. Even the house Cabernet is smooth and has legs that crawl slowly down the glass indicating a fantastic glass.
