Looking at the cast of Grease in the playbill reminds you of your high school yearbook. With over thirty people in the cast, this is one large production.

I wanted to see Grease because my good friend, Meredith Garofalo landed her first role in the theatre as Rizzo. A former Meteorologist at a local television station, she decided not to renew her contract so she can follow her passion for singing. Anyone that knows Meredith can tell you this role suits her. Not only did she act and sing her heart out, but she nailed the required accent.  She has one of the best voices in the cast along with Nick Drivas who played Teen Angel.

The play was high energy mixed with singing, dancing and dialogue. From the moment you enter the theatre you are lured into the play from the hula-hoop and swing dance contest on stage, to Miss Lynch, played by Dawn Burns walking through the audience making comments to them as if they were students at Rydell High.

There are a few kinks to still work out like sound and props, but all in all this is community theatre and to entertain the audience is what it’s all about. Directed and Choreographed by Jared E. Walker, Grease plays from September 12-29th at Manatee Players, Inc in the new building at 502 3rd Ave. West, Bradenton, FL. (941) 748-5875.
