Table For One: Word of Mouth

SPREAD THE WORD

This morning I awoke to temperatures in the low 60’s. With weather like this it reminds me of up north, and provokes me to grab a sweater and head to breakfast. Word of Mouth is a fun little place tucked away  at 711 S. Osprey Avenue. They have a menu to please all palettes and serve breakfast all day!

At 9:30am there are a few Table For One’s sitting up at the counter, some braving the outdoor area, and me, I decide to sit inside at a table by the window against the glass wall. The all glass wall gives you a feeling of being outside and keeps the inside nice and bright. It’s also great for people watching and spacing out while sipping your cup of coffee. My coffee mug is never the same, today it says I Love NY – so appropriate because of the weather.

I have an obsession with huevos rancheros ever since I lived in Los Angeles. Huevos rancheros (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈweβoz ranˈtʃeɾos], “rancher’s eggs”) is a popular breakfast dish consisting of eggs served in the style of the traditional large mid-morning fare on rural Mexican farms. The basic dish consists of fried eggs served upon lightly fried corn tortillas topped with a tomatochili sauceRefried beans, Mexican-style rice, slices of avocado, or guacamole are common accompaniments (Wikipedia). There is a place called The Rose Cafe that had the absolute hands down best huevos rancheros. Since then, I have yet to find anyone that compares. Word of Mouth’s version satisfies my craving.

I love this place not only for breakfast, but for lunch and dinner. They have complimentary Wifi, excellent service and if you have a four-legged friend, they are welcome to join you out on the patio. Hip and urban are words that come to mind to describe the atmosphere and vibe. Be sure to check their website Word of Mouth, they often have local talent playing live music or entertaining. Awarded Best Breakfast by the Herald Tribunes Readers Choice 2012/2013, there is no doubt why they have three thriving locations.
